In this session, we're bringing together experts from Allegro, KP Labs, Synerise, WP Engine, and ZenDesk to talk about their experiences in building effective AI solutions in various industries. While AI is new to many, our experts have used this long before the hype and will share their lessons learned, best practices, perspectives, and insights in the following areas:

Tomasz Klimek
Tomasz is a seasoned professional, leading AI & Data-driven, Cloud Native Software & Platform projects with a relentless focus on high performance and best practices. He collaborates directly with clients across diverse industries to tackle business challenges, drive lean product evolution, and navigate ongoing digital transformation. His software development approach is rooted in the Lean Startup methodology. With a strong technical background as a former Software Engineer, Tomasz specialized in complex backend development, including architectural solutions and computer vision. His driving force is constant curiosity and staying at the forefront of the newest technologies.
Jakub Nalepa
KP Labs/Silesian University of Technology
Jakub Nalepa received his M.Sc. (2011), Ph.D. (2016), and D.Sc. (2021) degrees in computer science from Silesian University of Technology, 44-100 Gliwice, Poland, where he is currently an associate professor. He is also the head of artificial intelligence (AI) at KP Labs, 44-100 Gliwice, Poland, where he shapes the scientific and industrial AI objectives of the company. He has been pivotal in designing the onboard deep learning capabilities of Intuition-1 and has contributed to other missions, including CHIME, Phi-Sat-2 and OPS-SAT. His research interests include (deep) machine learning, hyperspectral data analysis, signal processing, remote sensing, and tackling practical challenges that arise in Earth observation to deploy scalable solutions. He was the general chair of the HYPERVIEW Challenge at the 2022 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, focusing on the estimation of soil parameters from hyperspectral images onboard Intuition-1 to maintain farm sustainability by improving agricultural practices. He is a Senior Member of IEEE.
Ireneusz Gawlik
Ireneusz serves as the Director of Machine Learning Research at, a deparment he established half a decade ago. Since its inception, Machine Learning Research has gained recognition not only for its cutting-edge AI solutions spanning diverse business domains but also for its contributions to advancing the field of machine learning through scholarly publications. 
Under Ireneusz's leadership, the department is presently dedicated to enhancing customer experiences by harnessing the power of deep learning. This includes applications in search retrieval and ranking, visual search, recommendations, advertising, and state-of-the-art machine translation. Additionally, they are pioneering the automation of customer service through natural language processing solutions, while concurrently developing a customized ML Ops platform to supercharge enterprise productivity. Before his tenure at Allegro, Ireneusz was associated with AGH University of Science and Technology in Cracow. During his time there, he focused on developing Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms for spatial sound processing and automatic speech recognition. He earned his academic qualifications also from AGH University, holding a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and a Master of Science degree in Sound Engineering.
Mervi Sepp Rei
PhD in applied physics. 15y experience in mathematical modelling - from rogue waves and optical solitons to modelling energy transfer in heart muscle cells. 9y experience in building science and ML into products. Passionate about doing applied science in a micro scale - building practical and useful smart features that are conscious of ROI, and first of all live in production and not dying in data science notebooks.

Barbara Rychalska

Barbara Rychalska, PhD
Barbara is an AI researcher with extensive experience in practical business implementations of AI. She dedicated the majority of her work to recommender systems, natural language processing models, safety and interpretability of AI, and the design of AI-based platforms and services.
She is a laureate of many international scientific AI competitions: SemEval, SIGIR Rakuten Challenge, Twitter Recsys Challenge, and KDD Challenge. Together with the team, she took the podium in all of these challenges, competing against teams from Google DeepMind, Baidu, IBM, Amazon, NVIDIA, and other key players in the world of AI.
She is active in many international research networks and is an author of many research papers, which were presented at top AI conferences with an industrial twist, such as SIGIR, CIKM, or IJCAI.
She has co-founded the company Innsyte, which democratizes AI for business users. Previously, she worked as AI Research Director in Synerise. In her work, she focuses on ideating and creating AI-based products an services, such as - a platform serving private foundation models for behavioral data, and Cleora PRO ( - unique SaaS service for computing graph embeddings of relational data. In 2023, she received her PhD (summa cum laude) from Warsaw University of Technology for her thesis on AI for graphs and networks.
