Krakow, Poland, 11 - 13 June 2025
He began his adventure with IT when 8086 processors, RAM counted in kilobytes, amber monitors, 5.25" floppy drives and the TAG editor were the highest technological achievements. During the first years of his professional career he was a full-stack developer. Later he switched to the dark side of the force, and began to develop his career as an operating systems and services administrator. He gradually explored subsequent areas of infrastructure and software administration, always taking full responsibility for the solutions he architectured. Ten years ago he joined the Middleware Team at PZU. Eight years ago, he was fascinated by the world of containers so he sat down and created from scratch Kubernetes-based container platforms area in PZU, where he serves as an architect and technology leader. It is said that he can talk about almost every field of IT, hence the "professor" nickname. He is an open source software advocate, and says about himself that he was DevOps long before it became fashionable.
In private, he loves tech gadgets, is a LEGO bricks/sets collector and likes to read science fiction books and to play board games. He is an amateur photographer and a novice scuba diver.
Kubernetes-based container platforms are used in companies of all sizes and types: from startups to large corporations. In every such company exists DevOps/SRE Team responsible for their building, maintaining and ensuring stability and reliability. Such platforms can be created using pure Kubernetes, PaaS services from Public Cloud or as software solutions for self-installation in company DataCenters ("on-premise").
In this session, I will discuss how to deal with challenges regarding building and maintaining container platforms in regulated organizations, where SecOps Teams have a great distrust for content downloaded from the Internet and an even greater distrust for content that we try to send to it. I will show how to deal with "cloud native" software in "corporate way" in environments that do not have direct access to the Internet. I will share ideas and findings on how to avoid architecture pitfalls, based on own experiences from developing and maintaining such platform for PZU.
